Monaco + F1 - Say No More!
Picture taken from K3 grandstands
To be able to go to the Monaco Grand Prix was a dream come true and a big check off the bucket list! We not only love to travel, but we are big Formula One fans. Here is what Monaco during the F1 race weekend looked like for us and what we learned and would recommend.
Day 1 - Practice
What an iconic spot to watch practice, right!? With the water and yachts as the background! Not only that, but we made sure we got seats at the very top of the K grandstands so that we could watch the cars behind us as well. The first picture shows what the grandstand section looked like. We sat in K3. The second picture is a zoomed in picture from a Racing Bull taking the turn you can see in my first picture. The 3rd picture gives you a vision of what I mean when I say we sat in the back at the top of the bleachers, so no one was behind us! We could turn and watch the cars zoom by behind us. 4th picture shows that. I would definitely recommend doing this. We chose K3, because it also had a great view of the screen to watch the cars on it and getting seats at the top of the bleaches was a game changer! We also could stand up and not worry about anyone being behind us.
Day 2 - Qualies
We decided to switch up where we sat each day. So for qualies we sat in the A grandstand and honestly after practice and sitting with the iconic yachts in the background, I didn’t think it could get better, but these seats did not disappoint! The grandstand itself was a lot smaller, so we weren’t dealing with a ton of people in the section and as you can see in my 3 different photos the different angles of what we could see and we got to see more iconic Monaco around us. As well as (my favorite part) we were so close we could see the drivers helmets! As shown in the my last picture I wore my Ferrari Charles Leclerc bow that I found on Etsy.
Day 3 - Race Day
Lights out and away we go for the Monaco Grand Prix! Talk about chills! Remember how I said I didn’t think it could get better from our Day 1 seats? Well it did! For race day we sat in T2 grandstand and it was incredible. We wanted to get seats at the very back of the bleachers like we did for day 1, but when we got our tickets they were sold out of that whole top row, so we went one row down. I would do everything you can to get the last row, so you can stand and not have to worry about being in anyone’s way, especially if you are on the end. We sat as far left as T2 goes, so we could see them going around the corner and also come into the pit. Another thing that was nice about these seats was we were partially covered. We were able to see a lot from these seats. We saw the drivers walking around before the drivers parade, we saw the teams in the garages working on the cars, we could even see some of the guest famous people, including Jeff Bezos. On top of that we were able to see more iconic Monaco surrounding us, as you can see in picture 2 and 3. Picture 3 shows Old Town up above and if you look closely on the grass that is where some of general admission sat. You can also see in that picture part of the end of the straight we saw the drivers race in front of us, before they hit the turn and then in the next photo you can see where we would see them after the turn and that is also where they would come in to enter the pit lane. We were able to watch most teams pit stops. Although my favorite team/favorite driver didn’t win, good job to Lando for getting his first Monaco win.
Free time around Monaco
Vue Panoramique sur Fontvieille - the best view spot to get a photo with the Monaco buildings and yachts.Walking here you will also pass by the Prince’s Palace, Old Town, and Cathedral de Monaco. Peep my Ferrari hair clip!
Because we were here during the race we couldn’t get down to where the main big yachts are, but we did find a place not too far out of the McDonald’s there to walk over to the water and boats.
Walking towards Old Town.
Summary - Is the Monaco Grand Prix worth all the hype?
Yes, for the most part. It is an incredible area, and it truly is an iconic race and feels surreal being there. However, I will say, you don’t get to watch much race action, since it’s almost impossible to pass at this circuit. I would still 100% go to this race though and explore Monaco and South of France while you are there. I wrote a separate blog on the French Riviera as well you can check out. https://www.styledtoroam.com/blog/top-places-to-see-in-the-french-riviera
